....to Red River, New Mexico for the weekend to celebrate the 4th of July. I have never been to Red River, but heard great things about it. So I am pretty excited! Hope everyone has a great 4th!
This is where I'll be. It's okay to be a little jealous ;-)
Oh and as a little treat before I leave, I thought I'd share my favorite dance from SYTYCD last night. Can't get enough! Enjoy!
I don't know about all of you, but until last night I was about done with watching The Bachelorette. Okay...maybe not completely done. But pretty close. I was so sick of hearing about Bentley. I think the hardest part is knowing how bad he is and how much he DIDN'T like her and then to see her be so torn up about him. But I am so glad that is done and hopefully we don't have to hear about that anymore.
I wasn't crazy about the dragon boat race group date. I guess it was a fun date in all, but I am just not liking this competition style dates. I think it takes away from just getting to know her. But whatever, I know its a TV SHOW. Keep having to tell myself this... Though, I will say I am extremely jealous of all the traveling they do on this show! Geez, they are going to some pretty amazing places! I never really thought of Hong Kong being a place I would really like to visit but it looked beautiful!
Lucas's date was okay. I definitely like him better than some of the either guys and he is a Texas guy in all, but I didn't feel they had much chemistry. Now JP's date was a different story. Man! The way he handled things when she told him about Bentley was so sweet. He was so understanding. Very impressed by him. I was a little shocked how all the others guys acted when Ashley told them about it though. I get that is was pretty ridiculous how badly she needed closure...BUT I will say it again. It is a TV SHOW, and they knew that she would be dating multiple guys when they went on the show? So, I was a little confused with that. Overall I enjoyed this episode SO much more than I have been with the last couple episodes. Hopefully this a turning point...
My favorite guys for this episode are.... Of course JP. That isn't changing anytime soon. And still Ames :)
1. The Bachelorette - Of course this is at the top of my list! I can't get enough of this show....well maybe I can. Don't get me wrong I love the show, but if Ashley doesn't stop talking about Bentley I might go crazy! You are acting ridiculous Ashey! Get over him...please.
Ok, is it just me or do they show Ashley's stomach alot? Oh, yeah I might show mine too if it looked like this! ABS
See what I mean? She makes me want to go work out after every episode.
So of course, I am still very much Team JP but.......
Ames is in a close second! I know suprising....but how can you not like him! He is so sweet.
2. So You Think You Can Dance - I literally am so excited for summer to come each year for this show. And this year the contestants i.n.c.r.e.d.i.b.l.e. I don't know how they are going to pick who goes home each week because they are all that good. This was my favorite dance from last week. Can't wait to watch tonight!
3. The Voice - This Show completely suprised me. I have always been a big fan of American Idol, so i've never really gotten into other singing competition shows. But I am actually loving this one! I am a big fan of Javier and Dia. They are SOO good. This version of Angel by Sara Mclaughlin that Javier did is amazing! Though everytime I hear this song I think of the Junior classes sing sing act from this year :)
4. Pretty Little Liars - Shane would die if he watched this show with me. It is definitely a guilty pleasure! I don't know why I love it so much....well maybe I do. The girls are all BEAUTIFUL. Seriously, I could watch just to look at them and their amazing clothes! And because I want to know who "A" is and who killed Allie. TELL US ALREADY! The suspense is killing me.
5. Friday Night Lights - Okay, I would of made this list a year ago, FNL would of been one of the first on my list. But this season is getting to me. In not a good way. I hate what they have done with Julie's character. And I am kind of missing some of the old cast. Please get it together FNL!
Bring back these characters!
6. Extreme Makeover Weight Loss Edition - The title of this show speaks for itself. I am always so amazed by people that can lose an extreme amount of weight like this. They are so inspiring! I am a huge fan of Biggest Loser so naturally I love this show too. Can't get through an episode without crying!
So this is what keeps me entertained during the summer. What is your top shows?
So it's no big secret......I am a HUGE dog lover. I grew up having dogs and my love for them has just grown over the years. When I was about 14 years old I developed an obession with pugs. I know many people don't, but I happened to love their rolley faces and eyes that bug out of their head. I think it is absolutely adorable. And soon I had a pug of my very own, Spencer. I went off to college and obviously didn't get to bring him, so he became my parents dog. Which he kind of always was because he never liked me very much :) During my college days I couldn't wait till the day when I didn't live in the dorms and could have a pug of my own again. But I didn't have to wait too long because my sophomore year Shane adopted Frank. Frank is one ball of energy. He was a perfect match for Shane :) He might be hyper but he really is one of the sweetest dogs out there. He couldn't hurt a fly. I was excited that Shane got Frank, but I still wanted a pug of my own. A little girl pug perferably. Then the day came along where we got the opportunity to adopt Lucy. Finally, I got my little girl. A dog that actually really liked me :) She has been such a sweet addition to our family. A month or so back Lucy had a hard fall off ond of our bar stools at the house and had a pretty severe concussion that caused a seizure. She's been doing better since then, but yesterday had another seizure. We took her to the vet again to see what was going on. He took some blood work and said he would get back to us. Then Lucy had ANOTHER seizure today. The vet thinks Lucy may have epilepsy. We have started her on convulsion medicine and I hope to goodness it helps her. Seizures are no good and awfully scary to watch. I know some people think, oh it's just a dog and may think I am a bit dramatic. And that's okay. But our dogs are so much more to me than just a "dog". They bring us lots of companionship and laughter. I can't imagine not having them. I can only hope and pray that this medicine will help our poor little pup. It makes me so sad to see her sick :(
This past weekend I had the privilage of being a part of one of my very best friends wedding. Erin and Kolby tied the knot on Saturday evening and it could not of been more perfect! I can honestly say I could not pick a better match for Erin. I am so happy for them!
The wedding festivities began with a sweet bridal luncheon at a cute little restaurant in Boerne called The Peach Tree Cafe. I have lived in San Antonio all my life which is right next to Boerne, yet I have experienced very little of what Boerne has to offer. Boy, have I been missing out! What a stinkin cute little town! I love it! The rehearsal dinner that followed that evening was at the Scenic Loop Cafe. Another awesome restaurant! yuummm. Saturday morning and afternoon was mainly fiilled with getting all dolled up for the wedding. How fun is that. Spending all morning having someone do you makeup and hair? I loved it and definitely wouldn't mind having that all the time! After we finished getting ready we headed to the Marquardt Ranch for the wedding. It was absolutely beautiful! And one thing I will tell you about this whole wedding weekend, is that Erin was by far the most laid back and joyful bride I have ever seen! She was glowing the whole time and did not stop smiling. And when I think about it, that is exactly how it should be. Sometimes we forget that the most important part about a wedding is that you are marrying your soul mate. The little things really don't matter. I loved getting to be a part of Erin and Kolby's special day and I hope they know how much they mean to me!
This weekend Shane and I headed to Coppell for one special little girl's 3rd birthday. Who might that little girl be? My niece, Princess Kennedy Kate of course! My sister is probably one of the best party planners in the world. Seriously, she needs to start a business! She is so creative and always makes the most special parties and this one was no different. This year Kate has been particularly smitten with Princesses and everything that goes along with them. So it was very fitting to have a Princess Party!
And when I said Kate is smitten with Princesses that might be an understatement. I really have never seen a child that loves princesses and fairytales so much. This worried my sister Marci a little at first, but she decided she would let Kate continue loving princesses but just direct it more to Christ and how she is a princess of God. I love this post my sister wrote about it all... you can read it here.
And of course Cinderella and Belle were there! How could you have a princess party without them?
Okay, it is no secret that I am a huge fan of Television. I love it. I know I know, it isn't good to watch lots of TV, but it is definately my guilty pleasure. Shane makes fun of me for all the shows I DVR and watch, but there is no show that he makes fun of me more for watching than The Bachelor and Bachelorette. I cannot tell you how much flack I get for loving the show. But that's okay...he has a right to his own opinion and I have the right to mine :) And mine is that I am hooked and love it. I think it is because I am a hopeless romantic and really like to think it is real. Thought I know it not always is. I still have hope. I mean who doesn't like to watch someone fall in love. Okay, well enough about why I love to watch. Here is what I thought of last nights episode.....
TERRIBLE EPISODE...But really it was. I thought all the dates, with the exception of one, were horrible. I do not know what they were thinking when they planned those, but I thought they were down right awful. Flash mob date..cheesy and I couldn't keep up with how fast Ben C. talked. "Roasting" date...ridiculous. How can you even call this a date? Who wants to get roasted on a date? Not me. Thankfully the episode ended with JP's date. I enjoyed this date mainly because he is one of my favorites and because it seemed like the most real date they have ever done. And for Bentley...I don't even have words. Thank goodness he is gone. Hopefully next weeks episode in THAILAND (how cool is that?) won't dissapoint like this week did. So I know it is cheesy..but here are my favs.
Love Love JP
William was my favorite from last week, but he really dissapointed me this week. Come on, use your brain! BUT, I still think he is a sweet guy and I'm glad Ashley is giving him another chance.
And last but not least, Ryan P.
Enough about the Bachelorette.....haha well actually...
This past weekend was one of my bestie's Bachelorette party in Dallas. I loved it for so many reasons. One because I was so excited to celebrate for Erin. Her wedding is less than two weeks away and I literally cannot wait! But also because I loved being with all of my best friends. We aren't all in Abilene anymore so I am very thankful for anytime we get to spend all together.
Last night I was greeted by this little creature on my bathroom floor as I was about to start getting ready for bed. Yes, you heard me right. ON MY BATHROOM FLOOR. I do not know why this disturbs me so much. Maybe because a bathroom is where you are suppose to feel safe and clean all the time. Yeah, maybe thats why. Or maybe that this means this little creature traveled all through our house to get to the bathroom. That bothers me too. Either way, it's scary and gross! I almost stepped on it and screamed very loudly. Shane was very confused and quite frankly I don't think he believed me when I said there was a large worm/snake in our bathroom. But, yes there it was! Shane being scared of snakes and things of that sort didn't want to pick it up. So he grabbed a hanger nearby and picked it up with that and flushed it down the toilet. We were still very confused on what exactly it was because it resembled a worm..no head, skinny.....but it was much longer than any worm I have ever seen. About 10 inches long! And the way it moved around was much like a snake. SO, Shane googled worm snakes this morning and look what he found...the culprit!
The Typhlops, also know in as the blindsnake. They are said to be found in Europe, Africa, Asia and Central and South America. So why were you in my bathroom? Hm, good question. Okay, I know I am a bit dramatic. BUT would you like to find one of these things in your bathroom? Yeah, I didn't think so! Yuck
Summer is just wonderful. After graduation I took a week off to just be lazy at home. And man was it nice. I had time too clean, do laundry, cook dinner, watch all my favorite TV shows, and even work out. It has been the life. Though after a week of laziness I decided I probably needed to be working some, so I returned to work. I also started a bootcamp work out class at a local park nearby with my mother-in-law Jackie. I am really loving that. I do enjoy working out, I am just not very consistent with it. This class keeps me consistent and I really enjoy that it is outside! This past weekend I got to go home to San Antonio to help my parents watch my niece Kate and my nephew Joshua who they had for a weekend. I was so happy that I was able to go down and help and get some quality times with the kids and my parents. I really love being an aunt, but being around the kids makes me very sure that I am not ready for my own! I have so much respects for mothers! It is not an easy job!!
Today I am off to Dallas for Erin's Bachelorette. I CANNOT WAIT to be with all my friends!
