Week 13 - Gender Fun

I am now 13 weeks. or a little over 3 months. Getting close to be done with my first trimester! Can't believe it! We are at the point now where we are DYING to find out what we are having, even though we still have about a month before we could find out. I have not bought a single baby item (I am wanting to hold out till we find out the sex) so I am just getting really anxious to start really planning for this baby and to start calling it by our favorite boy or girl name ;-) The funny thing is that everyone seems to think something different about what we are having. Neither boy or girl is up in our polls from what people tell us. So, according to what people are thinking, what we think and what old wives tales say that is how it all stacks up..

I have two people at work who swear that I am having a boy. They just know it. But then there is another co-worker and best friend of mine who totally think it's a girl. That co-worker says she can tell I'm already carrying high? (I can't really tell at all!) Wives Tale is carrying low = boy and carrying high = girl.

I think it might be a boy. I had a very vivid dream the other day that it was a boy. I don't really have any certain reasons why, just feel like I am.

2nd Wives tale - If you don't get sick during the pregnancy it is a boy. If you are sick, you are having a girl. Well, I have not been sick at all.

3rd Wives tale - If the heartbeat is lower than 140 bpm it is a boy and if it is higher it is a girl. Our babies heartbeat has been between 165-175 bpm when we have heard it. Super high.

4rd Wives tale - You put a little bit of baking soda in a cup and then pee a little in it. (yes, I know gross. But it was all in fun!) If it fizzles like a soda it is a boy, if it doesn't it is a girl. Again, I did this all in good fun, and did it twice in fact..haha. It fizzled once and then didn't the second time. Awesome. Maybe twin boy and girl? :-) kiddddding

5th Wives tale - The Chinese gender chart. That looks like this.
It says we are having a girl..

So as you can see we are all over the board. And yes, I am well aware that all of these are in fact WIVES TALES. But it was fun and interesting to see to say the least! We are just so excited to find out what this little gummy bear is. We are not wanting one more than the other. We will be so happy with either! But I would love to know what your guess is! :-)

How far along?: 13 Weeks

Baby is the size of a: Peach

Development this week: Our baby is forming teeth and vocal cords. Baby is approaching normal proportions, with a head now only one third the size of the body. Intestines are in the process of moving from the umbilical cord to baby's tummy.

Best moment this week: Starting to look a baby furniture and bedding. Havn't bought anything yet, but still fun to start looking!

Food cravings: Sonic Sunrises (Cherry Limeade w/ Orange Juice) Yep, that is really my only craving. Strange, I know.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Ham. Just can't have it...and when I smell them cooking the Asiago cheese bagels for Einsteins at work it is pretty horrific for me. Terrible..

Symptoms: Feeling good! Starting to get my energy back!

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy, but I definitely can be moody sometimes. Definitely feeling more emotional already.

Looking forward to: Finding out what we are having...Duh :-) I did just write a whole post about it! And Christmas time!

Baby Beloved

I've never been this excited to write a post before. This was by far been the hardest secret I have EVER had to keep in my life. Ah, we are having a baby!!!!

Just writing those words still doesn't feel real yet. But it is....and we could not be more happy/excited/blessed.

Shane and I made the decision a couple of months ago that we would start trying. Yes, we only had been married for a year and a half, but having kids was on the top of both of our priority lists. We had a long talk about it one night and decided we were ready to start trying.  We talked a lot about if it was the right time....and we decided when is it really ever the right time? Okay, I know there are lots of people who probably don't agree with us on this. And that is OKAY. But someone told us once that there is never the perfect time. There is always going to be something you can come up with for why it isn't. Now, am I saying that everyone is ready right this second to have a baby... NO.  But for us we decided we were ready. So we decided to start the trying process.  And I mean it's not like it always just happens right away. Right? I know lots of people who try for a whole year before getting pregnant. Well, we tried for about three months. Then came that wonderful day. 10/11/12 to be exact :-) That evening I told Shane that I wanted to take a pregnancy test. He told me I should wait another day, but I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep if I didn't take a test. He agreed that I could take one test to see what it said. I took the first one and it very quickly displayed two lines! My heart has never beaten so fast. I looked at Shane and said, "Oh my gosh, it has two lines!" and he quickly said, "no it doesn't, I don't see anything!" Haha Poor Shane had never even seen a pregnancy test and didn't even know where to look! Then I showed him. We were both in shock. But so extremely excited. So I decided to take another...it came out positive. Then another.. again positive. We couldn't believe it. I think we might have hugged 5 times. We are literally over the moon!
June 20, 2013 to be more exact!

The last couple of weeks havn't been too hard on me. I havn't had any morning sickness (thank goodness!) but I haven't quite felt myself. I don't have near the energy I use to and feel like a zombie most nights. Poor Shane has been having to put up with me! What has been the hardest was keeping this secret! How can you not tell people some of the most important news of your life?  Talk about torture!

We had our first sonogram last Monday and I can't begin to tell you how joyous of a day it was. We got to see our little gummy bear, which is what I like to call it because it legitimately looks like a gummy bear right now. It was wiggling so much and had a strong heartbeat of 164 bpm. I have known I was pregnant for a little while now, but after seeing and hearing the baby I think it finally feels real. We are going to be parents!

Just the littlest bump right now. But hey, its something! Looks more like I have had one too many donuts  ;-)

How far along? 11 Weeks

Baby is the size of a: Lime

Development this week: This week our baby is officially developed enough to be called a fetus!

Best moment this week:  (This was actually last week) Seeing and hearing Baby H's heartbeat at our first sonogram. Just amazing..

Food cravings: Strawberries and Mac and Cheese :-) But I am not to the point where I just HAVE to have it. It just sounds yummy most of the time.

Anything making you queasy or sick: There isn't just one certain thing that makes me feel sick, but I do feel more picky on what I eat. Just not everything sounds good.

Symptoms: Overall feeling okay, but I am feeling extra tired! Evenings are typically the hardest for me. All I want to do is lay on the couch.

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy most of the time! Except at night..I'm serious...straight zombie mode.

Looking forward to: Getting back to my Body Pump Class! I haven't been since I found out I was pregnant, but since I have been feeling fine I am going back! I'll take it easy of course though ;-)

New York City....here I come!

So it's official....I am going to New York City in less than a month! I am beyond excited! I have never been before and seriously have dreamed of going there all my life. My mother in law has been wanting to take a girl's trip for forever now (you know, since the boys always get to go on fishing trips) so she decided that we needed to take a little vacay to the City! The boys don't appreciate it like we do anyways ;-)
We leave November 8 and I can't wait to see this...
 and this
 and this
 oh and this too!

Yeah, I am just ridiculously excited! So ridiculously excited I am already planning out what I will pack. :-) I just can't wait!

Closet Organization

I have been wanting to organize my closet for goodness, who knows how long, but a LONG time. I always end up just picking things up and tidying up a bit, but not really "organizing" it. This Sunday I decided things had to change. I have been reading blogs about organization and became inspired. And I am more than happy with the outcome!

This was before.... I know. It's terrible! But, for the record, it wasn't always this messy. The day I took this picture it was just extra messy. But regardless, something HAD to be done!

And this now....

Taaadaaa!
As you can see in the 2nd photo to the top, my shoes use to be stacked at the top of my closet, still in their original boxes. I like them this way soooo much better. So nice to actually see my shoes!

This is my favorite part. Shane built me these two shelfs for my shoes at the bottom of the closet. It was so needed! He is definitely a keeper!

Scarfs folded nicely. Wonder how long this will last?

Can't even begin to say how nice it is to have my closet organized for once! This post is mainly for my sister Clarissa. She loves her some organization! ;-)

Home-Made Ring Cleaner

I have very few pet peeves in life...

But having dirty jewelry, my wedding/engagement ring in particular,  is one of my TOP pet peeves.
So much so that I literally put it on my to-do list monthly because it bothers me that much.
Yes, clean jewelry is that much of a priority.

See, I am not making this up.

But I really hate the inconvenience of having to taking it to the jewelry store to get cleaned. I have been looking for a of home-made cleaning products that actually work. So, when I came across this video via Pinterest on how to clean your jewelry with basic products you have around your house I was so excited! I tried it out and what do you know...It worked wonderfully!!

All it takes is some Baking Soda, warm water, regular temperature water and a paper towel/soft cloth
First pour a little bit of baking soda into a small container of warm water. Just enough to make a paste.
Then put some of the paste all over your ring/piece of jewelry
After that rinse it off in a container of regular temp. water
Now dry it off with a soft cloth or paper towel
And wallah! Sparkly clean ring!

Tyson

This post is two days late...but that's okay. I still had to post about it. Monday was a very special day. It was my nephew Tyson's 7th birthday! I reminsced alot on Monday. I really can't believe he is already SEVEN. Wholly molly.....this makes me feel old! So naturally I had to pull out all the pictures I have of him through the years. Tyson made me a first-time aunt. I was so excited for him to be born. I have loved watching him grow up to a smart, personable, leggo-loving little boy.
Now here are the pictures to take you down memory lane...

I love you Tyson and I am so glad you are my nephew! I hope you had an amazing birthday!

Birthday Post

I am having an off day...mostly because it is the first day back at work after a 4 day weekend. So of course things are a little crazy. Work has just been really, really busy since last week was the first week of school. So even though I am not really in the mood to write, I did want to post about my birthday weekend that last weekend because it (unlike this past week) was wonderful.

My parents came in town for the weekend so they could spend my birthday with me. I love when they come in town and was especially happy that they were coming this weekend. They are so thoughtful! We really didn't do much, just hung out. But honestly thats all I ever want to do. My mom and I got pedicures in the afternoon at Pura Vida (the new salon at ACU). It is so nice there! We loved it. Then went to the country club with all of Shane's side of the family and swam and had my b-day dinner there. We ate amazing food an enjoyed some cookie cake..my personal favorite. Sunday we drove to Dallas for the day so my Dad and Shane could go to a Rangers game. While they sat in the rain at the ballpark, my mom and I went to Sprinkles Cupcakes with my Marci, Kate and Joshua. It was a nice little day trip! And of course the Sprinkles Cupcakes were amazing....So good! I am blessed to have lived another amazing year of life. Can't wait for what this year of 23 holds!
