Bye Bye Wisdom Teeth

This past Friday I had my wisdom teeth taken out. Yep, those darn wisdom teeth. Which I really would like to know why they are called "Wisdom" teeth. Because for all I know, they only cause problems.

I was pretty nervous about getting the suckers pulled. I have heard such horror stories about people getting them out. Some people's cheeks swell up like chipmunks, some get terrible dry sockets, some are in pain for weeks, some can't eat hard food for weeks, some have to lay on the couch for weeks. You know all things I did not want to happen to me. I had the option to just take a sleeping pill before the operation and that be my sedation but I was so terrified of it not working and me being awake during the removal that I called my dentist the day before and told them I changed my mind and wanted to have IV sedation instead. I'm sure they thought I was crazy.

Overall the surgery went smoothly. I came to very quickly after and suprisingly did not have much pain for the first two days. My parents had come in town to help with taking care of me. They really are the best. I was so sure I would be like one of those people from the wisdom teeth horror stories so I was all for them coming in town to help. Well I'm actually really always for them coming in to see me :) But, I will say, I felt kind of bad that they came all that way for me to feel fine those first two days! But of course right after the leave, the pain set in. It was a tolerable pain, but defintely not comfortable. So I've been dealing with that pain pretty much all week & I've been popping advil like it's candy. Overall, my experience was nearly as bad as I expected. BUT still not enjoyable. Though how could pulling teeth ever be enjoyable?
A few pictures from the night before surgery..

Then right after surgery. Still smiling! haha
Post-surgery milkshakes were probably the best part!

What a Hoppy Easter Weekend!

Man, I would do anything to get to have weekends like this past one, all the time! So, why was it so great? Well, it all started on Thursday afternoon at work. I had been bummed all week because I was under the impression that I was not going to get Friday off from work. I understood why I wouldn't, but was sad nonetheless. Then on Thursday afternoon one of my bosses informed me that I didn't need to come in Friday. Hello long weekend!! To say I was really excited was an understatement.  So Friday was filled with sleeping in, some cleaning, working out and getting errands done that I've been wanting to get done for a while now. Then Friday night was a little date night for Shane and I. Saturday we woke up super early, well for me at least, and headed off to the park to run a 5k for the Youth of Abilene. It was a little cloudy and super windy, but we finished it in great time and didn't stop running once! We are becoming quite the little runners! We have a couple of other 5ks and fun runs set up for the rest of April that I am pretty excited for!

Then came easter Sunday. Shane and I headed to church in the morning and then went to celebrate the day at Shane's grandparents with all his family, aunts, uncles and cousins. It was so fun to get a chance to all be together and celebrate the true meaning of Easter. We ate some great food, had fun with a pinata (a new Easter tradition), played some croquet, and the crazy kids swam in the cold pool. It was a great day!

All the Haught cousins!

Quick Update on Life

It dawned on my last night while I was in bed that I had a blog. One that I havn't posted on in weeks...months. Basically I have been one busy little bee. So here is a quick little update on why I forgot I had a blog. And what better way to update than through pictures? Just in case you didn't already know.. I LOVE pictures & always am the one with the camera.

Rachel's wedding shower in Dallas

Rachel's Bachelorette Weekend in Austin.

Me and Shane's 1 year anniversary trip to Ruidoso, NM.
(Can't believe we have been married a WHOLE YEAR! Wow! Can't wait for many more years with this sweet man. My love grows more and more each day!)

Rachel and Bailey's Wedding Weekend in Beaumont

and last but not least.... I planted a GARDEN. Yeah, I am pretty proud of it!

Whew...if  your tired from just looking at all those pictures, imagine how I felt after living through all that? Yes, I've been a little worn out from all the fun I've been having, but I wouldn't want it any other way! The last couple of weeks have been an amazing time with the ones I love. Rachel and Bailey's wedding was beautiful and the perfect example of them! I couldn't be more happy for them!

And my garden is just so darn cute :)
